Middle Triassic age, Guanling Formation, Xingyi, Guizhou, China. Exceptionally well prepared examples of highly desirable fossil reptiles, preserved on original slabs of an ancient Triassic seafloor bed. The matrix is a compacted mix of fine volcanic ash, silt and is intersected by natural calcite mineral formations. These dinosaur age fossils are presented as whole skeletons up to 12" long. These small reptiles, only found in China, once flourished in large populations - thousands swimming in the shallow waters of an intercontinental sea - the species was discovered in 1958. Affordable, displayable and highly sought after by collectors! Original artwork (click image to enlarge) by paleoartist Gareth Monger - commissioned & owned by TRIASSICA - prints available from > The Natural History Museum (click link). |
